Making Plyarn

Plyarn is made by taking plastic grocery bags and cutting them into strips, tying them together and rolling them in balls. This creates a plyarn which is crocheted into mats for the homeless. Last year, the club donated a total of 14 mats for our local homeless shelter clients.continue reading →

Birthday Bags

GFWC Big Rapids members love to look for ways they can help others to have some cheerful times in their lives. One of the ways for many people is to have a birthday celebration that would include cake and candles. GFWC Big Rapids Shares with Women Veterans

Christmas is a wonderful time to share with others, including veterans who have served our country. Members of GFWC Big Rapids decided to share the holiday spirit with the 12 women veterans residing at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans (MI). Individual decorative bags of various personal care items were provided to each woman.
